  • Suburban Station 1600 John F Kennedy Blvd Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19102 (map)

FREE EVENT: HLD will be performing the ON DISPLAY project in the historic Septa Suburban Station main concourse on Saturday October 27th from 12-2pm. Audience participation is welcome, bring your phones, cameras, friends and join them! They welcome your photos and selfies!!

Premiered in 2015 at Lincoln Center by Heidi Latsky Dance (HLD), ON DISPLAY is a deconstructed art exhibit/sculpture court—a commentary on the body as spectacle and society's obsession with body image. Members of the disability, performance, and fashion worlds are often stared at and objectified in their daily lives. This installation addresses our propensity to judge people based on what they look like by taking us beyond the first impression.

ON DISPLAY GLOBAL (ODG) is an event in honor of International Day of Persons with Disabilities where many communities around the world present this sculpture court installation in their own city. It has grown from 2 cities, NYC and Hobart, Australia, in 2015 to 26 international cities in 2016. ODG’s goal is to expand to 100 cities by 2020. As we take back what it means to be stared at or to engage with an unexpected body, we collectively shift the perception of beauty.
