Outing: Disability Pride Parade

  • Union Square Park New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

Commissioner Victor Calise of the Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities, Mike LeDonne of Disability Pride NYC and Elisabeth Axel of Art Beyond Sight are inviting you to be part of the fun and action at the 2018 New York City Disability Pride Parade and Festival. This year, we are aiming to make the parade bigger and better than ever!

On Sunday, July 15 at 11:00AM we will be marching from Union Square Park to Madison Square Park. At the end of the march we will be continuing our celebration with a post-parade festival and entertainment, which will include food, live music and informational booths.

In addition, this year we are excited to announce that we will be holding a competition, highlighting groups and individuals that really bring the party to the parade. We will be presenting awards in the following categories:

- Most Parade Spirit

- Best Costume(s)

- Best Float

- Best Performance (Singing, signing etc.)

Registration for the parade will begin on May 1st. In the meantime, we encourage you to mark the date in your calendar, help us get the word out by circulating the attached save the date and start brainstorming ideas that fit into this year’s theme for the competition “Express Yourself” More details about the competition will be available soon.

This year, let’s take the pride, resolve and future in our hands. The thriving starts with us, united through our mutual sharing and respect.
