Partner: Chicago Summer Spectacular Concert, Center Stage for Access and Accessibility

Come out to Chicago’s Navy Pier for three hours of amazing music, dance, storytelling, comedy and more by some of the city’s most talented performers with and without disabilities! Highlights of this free concert include:

  • Special guest performer Avett Ray, a seven-year-old piano YouTube sensation who happens to be visually impaired and has appeared on national television including American Idol and the Today Show

  • Performers from Chicago’s best entertainment venues like School of Rock Oak Park, MOMENTA, and Young Chicago Authors, Mister Danny of Chicago Magic Lounge

  • WGCI Radio personality and comedian Leon Rogers as emcee

Be “ALL IN” for access and inclusion by joining us for an unforgettable day at The Pier!

  • When: Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • Where: Navy Pier | 600 E. Grand Avenue, Chicago
    Wave Wall Performance Platform, located adjacent to the Centennial Wheel
    In the event of rain, the event will be held inside Navy Pier’s Food Experience near Ben & Jerry’s

Outing: Who Dis?! A Disability Variety Show

Who Dis?! A Disability Variety Show is held the last monday of every month at iO Chicago, 1501 N Kingsbury Ave, Chicago, IL from 8:30 PM to 10:00 PM CT.

Each month, a variety of comedic performers from the mental health, chronic illness, and disability communities take the stage at iO to benefit various local organizations doing the work to support said communities. The performers have the chance to showcase their talents first, and at the end there is talk back where the audience finds out "Who Dis?!" and we learn how art and disability intersect and influence. They also chat about inclusion and support in and effort to educate our audiences about their needs and support.

ADA Compliant Accessibility, no ASL or AD at the time: looking for help in offering and providing those services.

Diversability at the Chicago Disability Pride Parade

For the first time, Diversability will be participating in the Chicago Disability Pride Parade. The Parade will be held on Saturday, July 20th. The parade begins at 11 am with lineup at 10 am. Lineup is to be announced, but it will take place in downtown Chicago. The parade is an opportunity to march with and represent Diversability and to make connections with other members of the disability community. Accessibility needs will be met as long as they are submitted by July 7th. Our form to register is open until July 12th and can be found below. Outing: ReelAbilities Chicago | Disability Shorts: Life Stages

The ReelAbilities Film Festival Chicago is dedicated to sharing the human experience of disability through art and film. The 2019 theme is "Diversify Diversity" with the goal of increasing disability representation and inclusiveness in media and all aspects of our city.


Explore disability across the lifespan with three short films.

“I Don’t Care” (14min), a mother-to-be faces the possibility of having a child with Down syndrome.

“Intimacy” (19min) The experimental film depicts a first date between a deaf woman and a blind man, experienced through their alternating perspectives.

“Have No Fear” (23min) depicts a day in the life of an elderly Alzheimer’s patient, experiencing nearly everything for the first time.
